With a population of around 2000 people, 1500 students visit Garli from various places to study, starting from primary education, to the higher secondary education. A mix of private and Govt schools give rise to the hustle & bustle of children movement and they come and go everyday. Listen to the Morning Prayer routine at the Girls School ground, or the chanting of mathematical table at the open air schools.

| Garli has no night life. Work begins before the crack of dawn, followed by a lazy afternoon, and then some gossip and chai towards the evening. At sunset, Garli becomes a quiet village with only the sounds of nature to give you company!! |

| Local gossip spreads fast. A visitor’s arrival will soon be known to every single household in the village. You will overwhelmed by the generosity & welcome of smiling faces to their homes for a cup of tea. Invitation to events is normally conveyed via the village barber – a tradition probably unknown to the urban dweller! |

| If you are lucky, you may even get a taste of the famous Kangri Dhaam, a traditional meal prepared for special occasions. A delectable combination of Kangra delicacies including Maa ki dal, Mahani, Mandara and Khatta / Meetha are on offer, with most ingredients home grown and plucked from the farm next door and cooked specially for you under the open sky on the good old chulha. You can then end the meal with refreshing cup of Kangri tea or Desi Chai, sitting next to the lake. |

| Some committed people host the annual Lohri function at their house – a tradition in force for almost 25 years!! There are annual wrestling competitions where people come from all over North India to participate and take away the the grand prize of Rs 50,000/- |

All major festivals like Diwali, Holi, Lohri, Baisakhi etc. are celebrated in Garli.
